A shiver of desire, a swell of loneliness, a shock of recognition. Our hearts and bodies respond when we recognize love, loss — and more — in another’s face or form. These artworks recall what we felt on witnessing some facet of the human condition, some shifting mood within ourselves, some element of nature that bloomed or burned, that called to us to look, and see.
